A few things about me

About me:

  • I was born on March 14, 1977 in Jastrzębie‑Zdrój (and no — it’s not the seaside town near Jastrzębia Góra; it’s the opposite).
  • I completed primary and secondary education there. In 1997 I earned a technical secondary degree in electronics.
  • In October 1997 I started full‑time studies at the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications at Wrocław University of Technology. It was jumping into deep water — the “Millennium Flood” happened around that time and the city looked devastated. Anyone who remembers Wrocław then knows the feeling.
  • Over time I fell in love with the city (1997–2002). Even the hard grind of studies didn’t change that. What’s better than studying in Wrocław?
  • At the start of my fifth year (2001) I began working for a large telecom company. I won’t name it, but it has “Poland” in the name and isn’t exactly beloved…
  • It was tough (2002). Full‑time work and full‑time studies — even if it’s only six hours of classes a week — is no joke. And the thesis?
  • No defense in June (2002). October it is…
  • Finally! In October 2002 after many battles I earned the title M.Sc. in Electronics, specialization: Telecommunications. It sounds proud — and I was genuinely proud of myself at the time.
  • Despite everything I saw at TP SA, I don’t consider that time wasted. The work could be demanding but it was also deeply educational, with great people. In February 2003 our Web‑to‑UUS2 Gateway project took 2nd place in the Telekreator 2002 competition. More on the contest and project here.
  • Work, work, work (2003). Still, a good year.
  • What would 2004 bring? Definitely change…
  • March 1, 2004 — the first of those changes. I moved to the Wrocław Siemens branch as a “Project Integration Specialist,” whatever that was supposed to mean.
  • July 10, 2005 — more than a year at Siemens already. More in My work.
  • December 15, 2005 — I earned the ISEB “Software Testing Foundation Certificate.” More about ISEB and the certificate.
  • August 1, 2006 — move to Warsaw and a new role at eServGlobal.
  • August 2010 — eServGlobal became part of Oracle.
